Barcelona want the defender but City will not go under 15m euros
Barcelona were not able to complete their squad in the summer window, with another centre-back and a strike the priorities. With Samuel Umtiti poised to leave in January, signing a fourth defender to add to Lenglet, Pique and Araujo is important.
The main objective is Man City's Eric Garcia, but that may well be a summer move. In the last 10 days Man City have rejected moves by Barca and will only sell Garcia for 15m euros between transfer and variables, despite his contract ending in the summer.
Barca believe City's demands are unrealistic in the current market. Garcia wants to come to Barcelona.
City know that but they prefer him to go for nothing and play out the rest of the season than to sell on the cheap. The Blagurana aren't planning on getting close to the fee City want.
Garcia has only played in four games this season for City and yet they are keen to keep them. He has received a lot of pressure to renew his contract.
