Neymar is one step closer to leaving PSG this summer. The Brazilian doesn't want to pull on their shirt again. He's determined to force through his return to FC Barcelona and wants to go this month. Right now, Neymar is awaiting Barça's offer to strengthen his own position.
It's common knowledge now that Neymar informed PSG he wanted to leave before he went on his summer holidays. After a couple of unsuccessful seasons, where he's slipped down the pecking order in the Ballon d'Or stakes, Neymar feels now is the time to reactivate his career and a return to Barça would do that. Despite pressure from those in power at Paris, the Brazilian is adamant he wants to go.
In fact, the situation is uncomfortable at PSG. They forced him to train away from the main group and he's barely appeared in public since he returned. Whereas the brand and image of Neymar is known worldwide, PSG have used it sparingly so far. The forward was expected to appear on their Asia tour but that didn't happen. Officially, the club are claiming Neymar's injury has taken longer than expected to heal but that isn't entirely true.
PSG feel the situation is becoming complicated. Neymar and Thomas Tuchel's relationship remains respectful but the coach wants things resolved soon. They want to avoid any bad feeling to spread throughout the squad.
Neymar and his representatives are hoping for an official bid from Barça to move forward proceedings. So far, the talk has been restricted to intermediaries but the Brazilian feels it's time to take the next step. At the Camp Nou, they are desperate to avoid upsetting PSG.
Once that official bid comes in from Barça, Neymar is expected to step up his own plans to force a move away. Until now Neymar has kept his silence but once there's an offer on the table, he will let PSG know that he wants it to be accepted.
