Mateu Alemany reassures coach Xavi that Jules Koundé will be registered by Sunday
The sporting management is optimistic and believe he will be available in time for Sunday's game
The drama over Jules Koundé's registration may soon be over. Mateu Alemany reassured Xavi in a meeting today that he will be able to count on Koundé against Valladolid.
The Frenchman's fate hinged on the departure of Aubameyang or the salary reduction of some players. The club are certain that Gabonese's transfer to Chelsea will be official before Sunday.
Koundé is the current priority, no other signings will be made until the Frenchman is registered.
It will be interesting to see what position he plays. In the friendly against City, the Frenchman formed a centre-back pairing with Piqué. Koundé played on the right, taking over Christensen. It is also the position where Araujo is most comfortable, he is more a centre-back than a full-back.
Another doubt is who will play at right-back. Sergi Roberto started against City and made a good impression.
It seems less likely that Xavi will resort to the 3-4-3 formation he used against Real Sociedad. In such a case, it would be easier to include both Araujo and Koundé in the starting eleven.
Barça are still working on registering Koundé while waiting for the signing of more full-backs. Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) is the favourite for the left wing and Foyth(Villareal) for the right wing.
