Laporta's advisor said the Catalan club want to bring in the Dortmund striker

Enric Masip has revealed in comments to TV3 that Barcelona are trying to sign Erling Haaland. Masip, an advisor to Barça president Joan Laporta, recognised it won't be easy to win the race for the Borussia Dortmund striker, but confirmed the club will fight for his signature this summer.

"It's something the club are working on, with the difficulty that comes with that," he said. "It's difficult, but we're Barça and we will have a chance. The club is trying and the specialists in their area, those in charge of football planning, already know what has to be done."

Masip's comments come just hours after Laporta attempted to play down Barça's move for Haaland, not ruling it out but saying there had been no negotiations so far.

"At Barca, we don't negotiate with the player," Laporta told reporters on Saturday. "When we have to negotiate, we do so with the club, which would be Borussia Dortmund in this case.

"We're working on a lot of players that could improve the squad next season in agreement with the coach [Xavi Hernandez] and the directors of football [Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff]. We're planning for next season but there have been no negotiations -- no meeting, negotiations, nothing."
