Marc-Andre ter Stegen gave an interview to Sport1, where he spoke about Barcelona’s change of president, among other topics. Here are his key quotes.
Joan Laporta: The arrival of a new president brought calm to the club. And it’s good for the club. I’m sure that Barca will keep being successful in the future. Laporta is good with us, he transmits energy and is optimistic. He encourages us and that is important.
Renewal: It’s clear that I took into account the club situation during my negotiations to renew my contract. In my case I never doubted about renewing, but more for how many years to do it.
Lionel Messi: Leo is the best. If he goes, of course it will be a great loss for Barca. Only he can decide if he stays or goes.
Erling Haaland: Why would he leave Dortmund? Staying another year wouldn’t be a step back for him. If he goes, the team that signs him will have an incredible forward for the next 10 years.
The role of the youngsters: It’s incredible to see how they youngsters are playing. Pedri has been playing every game for weeks on end. That’s insane at his age. The youngsters have more energy. When you ask how they are after the games, they tell you ‘good, we’re going out to kick the ball around’.
The season: After the hard start, now we’re still able to become champions. It will be open until the last week. Coming back against Valencia was very important for us and will give us confidence ahead of the clash with Atletico.
