The German played in the second half of Barca's defeat by AC Milan
Ter Stegen is back. The German got his first minutes of the pre-season in the 1-0 defeat by AC Milan. Barca's starting goalkeeper had been on holiday since the World Cup but has returned as he bids to go another season as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, if not the best.
Cillessen had played all the minutes thus far but Ter Stegen came on for him at half-time against Milan. However it was not a happy return as Andre Silva struck in stoppage time to win it for Milan.
Valverde now has a big problem for the Spanish Super Cup. With both goalkeepers around it would be normal for Ter Stegen to start, but Cillessen has enjoyed the full pre-season, which means Ter might have to settle for a place on the bench.
