Diego Maradona, who appears to be Leo's harshest critic, has once again criticised the player's leadership qualities

Lionel Messi is considered by many supporters and football experts as the greatest player of all time. The number ten has made the whole planet enjoy the sport when the ball is at his feet. In fact, to many, Leo isn't considered human; as if he came from a different planet altogether. However, for Diego Maradona, Messi is a great player but he isn't a great leader.

After a few days in hospital, Maradona reappeared at a press conference to criticise Messi. And, although he said he considers Messi one of his friends, he didn't waste the opportunity to aim another attack at the player he coached almost ten years ago at the World Cup in South Africa.

"I love Messi with all my heart. They want to make him a leader but he isn't able to do that because he's going to be in his sporting world and with his family," he told Argentine newspaper 'Olé'.

maradona can't help himself

It's worth remembering this isn't the first time Maradona has taken a swipe at the FC Barcelona star. Following Argentina's exit from the 2018 World Cup, Diego laid the blame at Messi's feet.

"He's a great player but he doesn't do it. It's a waste of time to make him a leader when he needs to go to the bathroom twenty times before a match. He's scared. Let's not depend on Messi any more," he told ESPN.
