Manchester United's movement to be able to sign Sergiño Dest

The American right-back could make the switch to Old Trafford this summer

Erik ten Hag's not got off to the best start at Manchester United. He has lost his first two games in charge and they are bottom of the Premier League.

The Dutch coach reconginsed after the 4-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday that "we need to sign players." One of them could be Sergiño Dest, who he knows well from their time together at Ajax.

United have defined their strategy to accelerate the arrival of Dest in Manchester. The English club are working on moving on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, also a right-back, to convince the American to join them.

Ten Hag is optimistic and believes the young full-back will commit to joining him at Old Trafford despite his desire to succeed at Barcelona -- he was left out of the squad at the weekend and is increasingly aware he may not play much at Camp Nou.

Barça want €20 million or to loan him with an obligatory purchase clause. Xavi has made it clear, by not using him against Rayo, that he does not count on him.

Dest has not satisfied expectations in his first two seasons at Barça and did not convince Xavi in preseason. Barça want to strengthen at right-back and moving on Dest first is essential.

This week, with two weeks left in the transfer window, could prove key. United need new faces and Dest needs minutes.
