Negotiations have started between the clubs as United look for a Plan B

Frenkie de Jong is Manchester United's top target this summer. Erik Ten Hag wants the Barcelona midfielder to lead his new project at Old Trafford, as he has communicated personally to him. The Dutchman, though, is not keen on a move to United. The Premier League side have tried to convince him but are also now working on a Plan B: Leandro Paredes.

According to L'Equipe, United have made contact with Paris Saint-Germain to sound out a move for the Argentine, who has a contract in France until 2024. Negotiations have not started well, though, with the Ligue 1 champions asking for €35 million initially for a player that only made 22 appearances in all competitions this past season.

With a market value of €17m and at the age of 28, everything indicates that Paredes will not remain at PSG beyond the summer. He is one of the players, according to the local press, new coach Christophe Galtier is prepared to let leave -- with more than 11 of the squad up for grabs.
