Manchester City's Eric Garcia: Going back home is a brave decision

The defender is set to complete a move to Barcelona in the coming days

Barcelona will announce the signing of Eric Garcia next week. The Manchester City defender is out of contract in the summer and has confirmed his move in an interview with L'Esportiu, calling it a "brave" decision to return to the club he left in 2017. Garcia even found time to troll future teammate Gerard Pique, too.

Asked if returning to Barça is a comfortable or brave decision, he responded: "I have thought a lot about my future; about what I think is for the best. I think it's a brave decision [to go back to Barca]. I am convinced I have made the right one."

On the comparison with Pique, which many are making, Garcia doesn't fear it will have a negative effect on his career.

"I don't fear [the comparison] but I don't give it too much importance because I think we're different players," he added. "Gerard has won everything and is one of the best centre-backs in the world. I am 20 and just starting.

"The only possible comparison is that we're both from the [Barca] academy and moved to Manchester, but he went to the team that's not as good... I have been lucky to play for the best team in Manchester. It's a shame for him!"

Garcia also spoke about Sergio Aguero, who like him will also make the move from Man City to Barca this summer.

"'Kun' is a phenomenon and a goal-scoring machine," he said of the Argentine striker. "Forget his age. He will score goals until he's 100 years old. He's a legend. And he's an amazing teammate."
