Guardiola wants to rob the talented midfielder from Barça

Manchester City are keen to wrap up a deal with Ajax Amsterdam to sign Frenkie De Jong. Pep Guardiola is very interested in the midfielder the club's sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, has got to work on the transfer.

Txiki has travelled to Amsterdam to meet with Marc Overmars, his opposite at Ajax, several times. As a product of these meetings, Manchester City know Ajax want De Jong to remain with them until the end of the season.

Therefore, Txiki has proposed an 80 million euro deal now, with De Jong staying in Holland until the end of the current campaign.

It's a similar deal to the one Robert Fernandez lined up for Barça several months ago, but the Catalan club did not want to invest such a big sum immediately.

Ajax's stance has not changed, not for Eric Abidal or Txiki. Guardiola feels De Jong is a player that would fit his style perfectly.
