Lionel Messi's name is back in the English press and The Telegraph report that Manchester City are preparing to offer him a pre-contract in January.
The report says Pep Guardiola's team will make another move Messi after failing to land him in the summer amid the uncertainty around Barcelona off the pitch at the moment.
After president Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned last week, the Catalan club is currently in the hands of an interim managing committee.
According to the English newspaper, Barça expect to lose Messi next summer and that, along with the club's financial situation, could be taken advantage of by City in January.
Weeks ago, City's director of financial operations Omar Berrada confirmed the club would consider moving for Messi if he remained intent on leaving.
In the meantime, Messi remains committed to Barcelona on the pitch and will be part of the squad for this week's games against Dynamo Kyiv and Real Betis.
