Man Utd's Jesse Lingard emerges as free transfer option for Barcelona

The forward is out of contract at Old Trafford next summer and could sign for nothing

Barcelona want to build a competitive squad for next season but due to the club's financial situation they're exploring low-cost options.

One player who fits into that bracket is Jesse Lingard, who is out of contract with Manchester United next summer and could sign for free.

Following the formula employed to sign Sergio 'Kun' Agüero, Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay, Barça could turn to Lingard next.

Lingard, 28, has lost his place in Man United's side and is ready to make a move and leave the Premier League if that's what it takes for him to continue his career.

The England international came through the ranks at Old Trafford but has also had loan spells with Leicester City, Birmingham, Brighton, Derby Country and, last season, West Ham, where he scored nine goals and set up five more in 19 games.

That led to him returning to United this season but his participation has been discrete, although he has scored twice in six appearances and assisted another goal.
