Barcelona know what coach Xavi Hernandez wants and are working on improving the team in January. Young players have responded, like Abde and Jutgla, but the club are still seeking attacking reinforcements.
Ferran Torres is an expensive operation and, while it's still on the table, there are also other possibilities. Edinson Cavani is one name on the list and negotiations are at an advanced stage to sign the Uruguayan striker.
However, everything is pending a meeting with his club Manchester United in the coming days. It also remains to be seen how the player will come back from an Achille tendon problem that's ruled him out since Nov. 2.
United coach Ralf Rangick suggested he could have returned against Brentford in midweek, but the numerous Covid-19 cases at the club forced the game to be postponed.
In fact, United's game against Brighton was also called off for the same reason this weekend, along with several other Premier League matches.
Therefore, it still remains to be seen if Cavani is back at 100 percent.
