Man City and Liverpool monitoring Gavi's contract situation at Barcelona

The Catalan club have not yet been able to register his new terms 100% with LaLiga

Manchester City and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Gavi's future at Barcelona and what the possible non-inscription of his contract could mean for them in the coming months. According to The Times, the two teams have already asked the player's camp about the situation, although the midfielder is convinced that the whole saga will end up being resolved in his favour. Gavi has always wanted to stay at Camp Nou and that is why he renewed his contract a few months ago until 2026.

Per the report, the two Premier League teams would be interested in signing Gavi in the event that the contract cannot be registered, something that Barça will avoid at all costs despite the fact that according to LaLiga they must reduce the wage bill by around 200 million euros in the summer, something that is practically impossible. For Barça, Gavi is a non-negotiable asset and they are convinced that everything will work out.

Liverpool had already tried to tempt Gavi into not renewing his contract and were prepared to make him an astronomical offer if he left Barça as a free agent. Both the player and his camp ended up signing with the Blaugrana, turning down more money elsewhere since the predisposition of the footballer to stay at Camp Nou is absolute. Gavi does not want to leave no matter what, although it is also true that the issue of the registration of his contract and the contractual improvement that it entails worries the player.
