Luis Suarez to take operation on injured knee today
The Barca star will go under the knife and is poised to miss the Copa del Rey final
Barcelona have revealed that Luis Suarez will be operated on today. The Uruguayan striker has had a problem in his right knee meniscus which surgeon Dr Ramon Cugat will attend to.
Suarez has carried the problem through the season and will miss the rest of it, including the Copa del Rey final on May 25 against Valencia.
"Surgeon Dr Cugat will perform arthroscopic surgery on the Uruguayan under the supervision of the club's medical staff," said Barcelona in a statement Thursday.
"The outcome of the process and an estimate of how long the striker will be out will be announced following the surgery."
This type of operation usually puts a player out for six weeks minimum. He will be touch and go to arrive at the Copa America, played in Brazil this summer between June 14 and July 7.
