The Uruguayan was critical of the lack of respect shown to him by the board

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez criticised the Barcelona board on Friday but said that he won't celebrate against his former club if he scores against them for Atletico Madrid.

However, he said he would point at those he feels are responsible for his departure from Camp Nou after six years at the Catalan club.

"I spent six years at Barcelona and never had a problem, the opposite," he told ESPN. "For years they've been saying Barcelona need a young No.9 to adapt to the team. They never brought anyone to compete with me, I was always at the level the club needed.

"With the respect I had earned on the pitch, I deserved more than learning through the press they wanted me out. For a coach to come and tell you you're not in his plans when the board had already said there would be changes generated doubts -- was it the coach or the board?"

Suarez added he would "never" have signed for Real Madrid and that he won't celebrate if he scores vs. Barça. "But I would point to a section (of the stands)."

He also spoke about his "great relationship" with Lionel Messi and its possible influence in his departure. "We looked for each other constantly, but for the good of the team. Maybe they wanted him to play with more teammates. That could have something to do with it. I can't find any other reason to want to separate us because we got on well on the pitch."
