Luis Enrique: No better right-back than Sergi Roberto for Barça

Luis Enrique says there’s no better right-back for Barcelona than Sergi Roberto. 

Roberto, who began his first team career at the club, has taken over the position on a full time basis since the summer departure of Dani Alves. 

And he produced a man of the match display against Sporting Gijon which left his manager purring. 

“I watch a lot of games and I don’t see any better right-back than Sergio Roberto,” Luis Enrique said. 

“At least for Barcelona, who always have the ball. 

“I’m delighted that he feels good in that position, although he can play in the midfield roles, too. 

“He’s capable of beating a man, passing with quality…”

Roberto was tireless in the win at El Molinon, bounding up and down the right flank all afternoon to contribute in defence and attack. 

He produced the crosses which led to Arda Turan and Rafinha’s headed goals, while also delivering for Paco Alcacer’s effort which hit the bar and was followed in by Neymar.
