Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele in January to reinforce his squad as he battles with Manchester City for the Premier League title.
The Sun say the Reds will offer up to £85 million (98m euros) to sign the Frenchman, who is currently with his national team.
In England they say Liverpool will break their transfer record, established in the last window when they shelled out 75m pounds for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool would like to take advantage of Dembele’s failure to adapt at Camp Nou, as well as the discomfort that exists at the club because of the lack of maturity the 21 year old has shown.
THE LATEST MESS
His absence in training last Thursday, because of a gastroenteritis that did not report to the club - they took more than an hour and a half to locate him - was the trigger for the current crisis. Valverde left him out of the squad against Betis and French coach Didier Deschamps, admitted that Dembélé must mature and, above all, not be late for training.
The agent of Dembélé, Moussa Sissoko, defended the player, who set Barca back 140 million euros including variables. For this season Barca may not react positively for an offer because they do not want their money to be wasted - and he has enormous talent and potential.
Dembele would fit Klopp’s plans to compete with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the attack.
