Liverpool fear that Philippe Coutinho will want to leave for Barça

The English club are offering the Brazilian a second new contract in the space of one year

Philippe Coutinho is one of Liverpool’s best players and one of the Premier League’s biggest stars. His projection has made him one of the most highly rated No.10s in football.

He’s a player who has been liked by Barcelona for a long time and he’d love to wear the Blaugrana shirt. Liverpool fear the worst and have offered him a new contract, despite the the fact he only renewed until 2020 less than a year ago. They’re worried that he will want to move to the Spanish league where he can explode alongside the world’s best.

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson said recently that “Coutinho could play at Barça or Real Madrid in the future. He has immense quality and could play in any team in the world. His agent has been working extra hard in the last couple of weeks."

And another player with a Liverpool past, John Aldridge, indicated that he thinks the Brazilian’s future could be in Barcelona: ““Don’t be surprised to see Philippe Coutinho linked with Barcelona in the coming weeks. Only the best players in the world are associated with those teams, and it underlines what an excellent season Coutinho is having.”

The reality is that Coutinho would like to play in Barcelona, where his style would fit in. His agents, Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci, sounded out the possibility last year, but Barça ruled out any deal due to the price and the fact they had other priorities. They consider his position well covered, but anything’s possible in the future.

They know first hand the 24-year-old’s preferences and don’t doubt that in the future he would fit in at Camp Nou. Real Madrid have also been sounded out, but they can’t sign players due to their transfer ban. PSG could be ready to make a big move for him, though. Coutinho would be a big signing for any of Europe’s big clubs.
