Lionel Messi's message before reappearing with Argentina
The captain published a video on social media ahead of the World Cup qualifiers
FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is prepared for the team's World Cup 2022 qualifiers. The captain of the Argentina national team published a video on Thursday saying he's anxious to get going against Ecuador at the Bombonera.
Messi said in the video: "Take everything away from me, but if you can, leave me football. Because football is hope, it's joy. It allows us to celebrate together, even though we are separated."
This will be Messi's first game for Argentina since November 18 last year, facing Uruguay in a friendly in Tel Aviv.
"Argentina was always synonymous with football," he continued. "Synonymous with encouragement, hugs, full stands. For this reason, for us putting football on pause is much deeper. Like when you were a kid and they asked you to put down the ball for a while and stay in your house. Take everything away from me, but if you can, leave me football.
