The Argentine star - and Barça captain - returned to the starting lineup for the Champions League contest against Inter

Lionel Messi returned to the starting XI against Inter Milan and following the tough encounter spoke to the media.

It's been a tough week for those at FC Barcelona following Gerard Pique's comments which many felt were directed towards the Barça board. "We're fine. We aren't in our best moment which is why it was important to beat Getafe and Inter. Sevilla is up next, which will be another tough game, but it'll see us go into the international break in a good place. We all know how things are when there's no (club) football."

Messi also gave his opinion on the team's inconsistent start to the campaign. "Every side is struggling to get going. It isn't a criticism, but a reality. When you are forced to travel and don't train well, we don't have a solid base to work with. We're getting into our stride with each passing match. We understand the club needs to have these matches, it's necessary and everyone else does the same, but we need time to get up to speed."

Messi completed his first 90 minutes of the season against Inter. The Argentine star has been dealing with calf injuries ever since he returned to preseason training with the club after the Copa America.

Before he ended his interview, Messi wanted to put to bed some other rumours doing the rounds. "We don't have any problems with Griezmann. Step by step our relationship is improving. The feeling amongst the dressing room is really good."
