Lionel Messi says he wanted Fraser Forster to join Barcelona to fill Victor Valdes' shoes

Of all the pitches that Lionel Messi has played on during his football career, he says that Celtic Park, in Glasgow, is the most difficult.

The Argentine star says that that the atmosphere and pressure from the Celtic fans has been special when Barcelona played there.

"The game we have played against Celtic have been special, I have good memories of them."

Barcelona's No 10 also has a Celtic shirt in his house, to remind him of two tough games, but ones he enjoyed playing in.

Messi has appeared in stadiums with terrible weather, at high altitude and on artificial grass, like CSKA Moscow's, but Celtic Park was his pick for the toughest.

"It's a tough away game, it's very difficult to get a good result there."

He also remembered good saves by Fraser Forster, who was in goal for Celtic, in that game.

"When Valdes left, we spoke about the possibility of bringing him to Barcelona," admitted Messi. "I was sure he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea, or Manchester United.

“The performances of Fraser Forster against us were talked about for a long time. There was one game in Scotland where he was not human, it is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen."
