Lichtsteiner is Barcelona's 'low cost' alternative to Aleix Vidal

Lichtsteiner is Barcelona's 'low cost' alternative to Aleix Vidal

The Juventus forward could join the club on the cheap in January with a right-back on the menu

Stephan Lichtsteiner has returned to Barcelona’s orbit. According to Gazzetta, the Juventus full-back is an option to join the Catalan club in January.

Lichtsteiner's name has been used in relation to Barça in recent months. His experience and the fact he’s out of contract at the end of the season have make him an affordable target for clubs looking for a right-back without making a he financial outlay.

The Italian press say Juve are interested in signing Milan’s De Sciglio. If that deal were to go through, Lichsteiner’s days elf be numbered, given Dani Alves is already ahead of him in the pecking order.

And that’s were Barça come into things, with Aleix Vidal expected to leave Camp Nou in the winter.

Things are expected to become clearer in the coming weeks. What is almost certain is that Vidal leaves. Barça, though, don’t want to spend a lot on a right-back, which would make 32-year-old Lichtsteiner a possibility.

Joao Cancelo, Serge Aurier and Cedric Soares are other possibilities, but it’s unlikely Hector Bellerin will be signed.
