Lewandowski is surprised by physical element of Barcelona training

The striker has been impressed with the sessions so far since joining for €45m

It's almost become a tradition: when players leave Barcelona, sooner or later they end up badmouthing the club's physical preparation. They say Barça don't train enough and that the fitness work is not at the level of other big European clubs etc.

Curiously, though, it's been the reverse with summer signing Robert Lewandowski. The Poland striker comes from a team famous for their fitness work, but he's been surprised with that element of training at Barça.

Lewandowski has explained as much to his most intimate circle and to some Polish journalists.

"I am more tired than I expected," he said, without losing the smile that has accompanied him since he made the move to Camp Nou for €45 million in July.

If he maintains that feeling, there is little doubt that he will be a top signing.

It is true that Barça have lacked power and physical resistance in some games in recent seasons, but if the team -- the coaching staff, rather -- is capable of correcting that, the short-term future looks really hopeful.
