The Polish striker has made it clear he wants to leave the German side

Barça hope to sign him but Bayern have so far been unwilling to talk

Barcelona are working to close the signing of Robert Lewandowski as quickly as possible. He's the absolute priority to lead the sporting project next season.

Lewandowski already has a two-year agreement with Barça with the option for a third, but the club's first attempts to negotiate with Bayern Munich have failed.

The German club aren't open to dialogue yet and won't even listen to the offers. If this blockage continues, Lewandowski will once again speak out in public dispute Barça being convinced Bayern will eventually open up.

The countdown has started and Barça's objective, as well as the players, is to avoid this becoming a bigger saga than it already is.

They hope Lewandowski will be in Barcelona for preseason from the second week of July so he can head with the team to the United States for the preseason tour.

Despite that, Barça are surprised by the toughness of the Bayern executives. They understand their public stance is one thing and to get a good deal they can't just drop to their knees, but the reality is they are also being firm behind the scenes.

Lewandowski has made it clear he wants to leave and won't turn up for preseason and asked Bayern to talk to other clubs.

It's true there was a talk between Lewandowski and Bayern in Mallorca and he made it clear there is no step back. He wants a friendly solution.

Bayern took note but didn't commit to anything.
