Leonardo on Neymar's PSG renewal: We have to look at everything calmly

The PSG sporting director wouldn't commit to questions about the Brazilian's future

Neymar's future at Paris Saint-Germain becomes more complicated by the day. The Brazilian forward has still not signed a contract renewal and nerves are creeping in at the French club. Or at least that is what can be read into the comments made by PSG sporting director Leonardo to El Chiringuito on Sunday.

The Brazilian, in Barcelona for the women's Champions League semifinal at the Johan Cruyff stadium, was speaking at El Prat airport as he returned to Paris.

"I came to see the women's team today -- and unfortunately we lost," Leonardo insisted when first asked about Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Neymar has been continually linked with Barça as his contract runs down and Mbappe, also out of contract in 2022, is wanted by Real Madrid. Messi, meanwhile, out of contract in June, reportedly has a contract offer from PSG.

Pressed further on if Neymar will renew with PSG or not, Leonardo was very prudent. "We have to look at everything calmly," he said without wanting to commit to guaranteeing the ex-Barça forward will remain in the French capital.

He avoided asking if Mbappe will continue at PSG or sign for Madrid.

Remember Barça have transmitted to Neymar that he's their top target this summer if he doesn't renew. For now, he hasn't signed new terms and a return to Camp Nou remains on the table. The Neymar Saga 4.0 is just getting started.
