The Argentine superstar is expected to speak publicly on his decision to leave Barça in the next few days

It's been a week to forget after the season to forget at FC Barcelona after Lionel Messi informed the club he wanted to leave. The current Barça captain is ready to break his silence on the subject but will wait for the right time and moment to explain the reasons behind the desire to move.

Until now Leo has remained silent on both his decision to leave as well as responses to comments from Ronald Koeman (manager), Ramon Planes (director of football) and Josep Maria Bartomeu (president) on his future. Bartomeu himself has only spoken to Jorge Messi, Leo's father and agent, about the current situation.

What's indisputable is that Messi told Barça, via his lawyers, of his desire to leave the Camp Nou. He told Koeman the same thing during their brief chat. Messi has reportedly told Pep Guardiola about wanting to join Manchester City.

However, Leo has yet to speak openly and publicly about his state of mind and how he came to the conclusion of leaving Barça. The only thing he's told the club is that he'll take the PCR tests on Sunday and join up for preseason training on Monday alongside his teammates.

Aside from the humiliating 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Messi is also upset at the club's decision to sell many of his close friends in the squad (Luis Suárez, Arturo Vidal...) and fans are desperate to know why now.

Leo knows he must explain his decision to the world - and in particular the fans of the club he's been at since he turned 13 - but wants to wait for the right time to reveal his motives. He will only have one opportunity to get his thoughts and reasons across properly.

Manchester City are ready to step up their bid to sign Messi, PSG are waiting to see how the situation develops and Bartomeu is ready to resign if Messi commits his future to the club.
