Leo Messi will receive the European Golden Shoe this Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm in Barcelona. The award is for ending last season as the top scorer on the continent.
Barcelona forward Messi has dominated the prize. This is the sixth time he has won it (2009/2010, 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and now 2018/2019), including in each of the last three years. No one has won it more.
In fact, the award has been won by Barça players in each of the last four seasons. The last person to win it before Messi was Luis Suarez in 2015/16.
Messi will be joined at Wednesday's event by his family and friends, while there will also be a delegation sent from the club.
Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe and Sampdoria's Quagliarella came second and third in last year's race to win Europe's Golden Shoe.
