Reports on Tuesday suggested a deal had been struck

Lionel Messi has still not reached an agreement to renew his contract with FC Barcelona. That's the message from sources close to the player consulted by Diario Sport.

On Tuesday evening, reports appeared suggesting that Messi had told president Joan Laporta 'yes' to his contract renewal offer.

But the player's camp assure that for the moment there's no agreement and no definitive decision on Barça's offer. In this sense, they explain that there are still issues to be defined and that they must be reflected in an official offer when all parties are in agreement.

Therefore, nothing is yet closed with regards to Messi's future at Barça. The club, for their part, have no plans to comment on any reports until everything is official.

Messi has just eight days to run on his current terms, which expire on June 30. Laporta has said he's "convinced" the Argentina forward will renew.
