Barcelona captain Lionel Messi scored his ninth league goal of the season to give his side a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday, moving within one goal of Pichichi Karim Benzema, who didn't score in Real Madrid's win over Alaves on Saturday.
Messi decided the game against Atletico in the 86th minute. He played a one-two with Luis Suarez before firing past Jan Oblak to move Barça back to the top of the table.
The goal, surprisingly, as his first at Atletico's new stadium in La Liga. He has scored there before (in the Copa del Rey final against Sevilla) but never against the Rojiblanco in the league. With the goal, he broke new ground: he has now scored league goals in all 20 of La Liga's stadiums.
Nowhere is safe. There is no ground in Spain's top flight where Messi has not netted.
