The Argentine forward will only be behind Dani Alves if he leads Barca to Super Cup victory

Lionel Messi could become the player with the second most trophies in the history of football. The Argentine star has won 36 titles in his c career and is one away from equalling Andres Iniesta and Maxwell on 37. Top of the all-time list is former Barcelona player Dani Alves, with 42.

Messi has won 10 leagues with Barca, eight Spanish Super Cups, six Copa del Reys, four Champions Leagues, three European Super Cups and three Club World Cups. With his national team he has won an Olympic gold medal and an U20 World Cup, with both titles counting as officially decreed by FIFA.

In the case of beating Bilbao and winning the Super Cup today, Leo will pull level with his former team-mate Iniesta, who won 32 with Barca and three with Spain, and two in Japan (Emperor Cup and Super Cup).
