Leo Messi arrives at 700 goals for Barcelona
Split between official games and friendies, he's a madness
Lionel Messi keeps writing his name in the history books. The Barcelona captain hit his 700th goal for the club on Sunday against Real Sociedad. The Argentine netted two against the Basques as Barca won 6-1.
Messi has scored 663 goals in official competitions and in friendlies he has bagged 37 for the Catalans. These are special numbers and show how incredible he has been for the club for the past couple of decades.
Messi also overtook legend Xavi Hernandez as the player who has played the most games for the club, making his 768th appearance for Barca on Sunday.
The Argentine’s second goal was also the team’s 100th this season and, in a transition year, they are still fighting for the double which isn’t bad at all.
