Leo Messi and Luis Suárez continue to carry Barça's attacking threat
Performances from the duo like the one against Inter prove they are untouchable in this current team
When Inter Milan briefly questioned Barça's place in the Champions League, when everyone was predicting the worse, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi resuscitated the team.
Ever since their partnership was formed five years ago, Barcelona have continued to win trophies. Nights like the one at the Camp Nou on Wednesday only proved why those two are 'untouchable' for every coach.
It was perhaps also why they both wanted Neymar to return this summer. As, once again, the team will turn to Suarez and Messi to rescue them when the chips are down.
Domestic success has been retained since Neymar left but Dembele, Coutinho and - until now - Griezmann have all failed to hold the same responsibility the Brazilian had in the team.
Griezmann is continuing to develop a connection with the established duo but being forced out onto the left wing doesn't seem ideal to extract the best from the forward. He's also unlikely to take his opponent on and upset the balance of the opposition's defence.
Injuries to both Messi and Suarez haven't helped Griezmann adapt to his new surroundings either. They've only played 187 minutes together: 31 against Dortmund, 45 against Granada, 45 against Villarreal and 66 against Inter.
Messi passed to Suarez 10 times and only on three occasions to Griezmann. Dembele, who came on, got the ball from Messi five times. Arthur (10) and Arturo Vidal (6) also saw more of the ball from Messi than the former Atletico man.
Griezmann passed to both Messi and Suarez twice. The Uruguayan, to round it off, found Griezmann three times compared to the five times he passed to Leo.
Until the trio clicks, Barça will continue to rely heavily on the Messi-Suarez connection.
