If the Brazilian star leaves for that amount it would make him the most expensive transfer in history - for the second time

PSG want 300 million euros for Neymar. That is what 'Le Parisien', a newspaper would close ties to the club, are reporting this Wednesday. They claim PSG won't accept anything less than €300m due to the fact Neymar has three years left on his contract.

If PSG manage to get what they are asking for, it would make Neymar the most expensive transfer in the history of football - for the second time. When he joined the French giants in 2017 he cost a staggering €222m.

A TOUGH PRICE TO MATCH

It's hard to see any club offering that amount for one player. The only way to perhaps make an offer which suits both the selling and buying clubs is if players are offered in exchange to bring down the cash amount needed. PSG's president has admitted he is open to negotiating a transfer should an offer come in.

The story goes on to say that the €300m asking price is a deliberate act by PSG in order to force Neymar to stay. They mention the fact Real Madrid have already spent over €300m this window and Barça are expected to confirm the signing of Antoine Griezmann for €120m on the 1st July.

STRATEGIES

Another way to view this information, according to the newspaper, is that PSG wants to "freeze the situation and admit they want Neymar to stay". This would mean Al-Khelaifi's comments, which opened the door to a transfer away, were rather a warning than a genuine intention to move on the Brazilian.
