Las Rambas terrorist attack had been planned for Camp Nou

The trial continued on Tuesday and police confirmed their suspicions over the terrorist plot

The Catalan police have concluded that the terrorists who attacked Las Ramblas and in Cambrils had been planning to strike at Camp Nou and the Sagrada Familia, as well as the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The day chosen was August 20, when Barcelona played Real Betis in La Liga.

The plans were frustrated and they improvised attacks instead which led to Las Ramblas being chosen.

The trial of the two alleged members of the jihadist cell, Mohamed Houli and Driss Oukabir, together with Said Ben Iazza, an alleged collaborator, was resumed this Tuesday by the National Court.

Police have stated that Oukabir rented the van used in the Las Ramblas attack by Younes Abouyaaqoub on the afternoon of August 16, 2017. Abouyaaqoub would end up being killed by the Catalan police force in Subirats on the 21st of that month.
