Laporta not ruling out terminating Dembele's Barcelona contract

The forward is out of contract in the summer and is likely to leave for free

Barcelona president Joan Laporta did not close the door on the possibility of terminating Ousmane Dembele's contract after he failed to leave in January.

"We are assessing all the options and we will take the best decision for Barça's interests," Laporta said in a press conference on Wednesday.

"There are different options which are being studied at the moment and we're going to weigh them up over the coming days."

Barça are looking into rescinding his contract to avoid a crisis in the dressing room in the event that Dembele is never called up for another game.

Coach Xavi is open to reintegrating him into the team because of his quality, but the club feel that would not be an example to follow. They also think his presence at Camp Nou could divide fans and damage the team.

It's a tense situation and Barça want to take their time to find the right solution.
