The Barcelona president was clear that changes are needed at the Catalan club

Barcelona president Joan Laporta appeared in a press conference on Friday and laid out his objectives from the start: "We need to explain the decisions we're taking the road map for the fans to know where we are going."

For Laporta, it's time for a "project that hasn't worked to come to an end" and Barça are working on a "new project that will bring joy to the fans and turn the financial situation around."

He explained: "With me as president, there are no transition seasons. Before, if we lost, nothing happened, but with me there are going to be consequences.

"We are working on improving the squad and next week we will announce new signings for the first team."

In that sense, once the Champions League final is played on Saturday, Barça can announce deals for Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia, while they continue to work on Memphis Depay and Gini Wijnaldum.

However, there will also have to be departures because Laporta confirmed that the wage bill is currently 110 percent of the club's revenue.
