Laporta appoints MediaMarkt's Ferran Reverter as Barça's new CEO

Joan Laporta is making his moves after being elected as the club's new president

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that Ferran Reverter will join replace Oscar Grau as the club's CEO.

Reverter, 48, has held a similar position previously at MediaMarkt Iberia before moving on to MediaMarktSaturn in November 2018.

He joins Barça at a tricky time in the club's history with gross debt standing at nearly €1.2 billion and net debt at €488 million per the club's most recent accounts.

Along with Laporta, he will work on resturcturing the debt and helping make Barça financially sustainable once again.

Laporta was elected on Sunday after more than 30,000 socios voted for him to become the president ahead of Toni Freixa and Victor Font.

Laporta, 58, previously held the role between 2003 and 2010, when he was replaced by Sandro Rosell.
