Laporta announces Sergi Roberto's pay-cut deal is ready to sign

The midfielder will be extending his contract on a lower rate

Sergi Roberto is the last of the captains to agree to a salary cut, because his situation is different. His contract expires at the end of this season, so his is also an extension.

After Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba agreed to cuts, it’s Roberto’s turn.

Joan Laporta spoke about the deal and how it is progressing.

“With Sergi Roberto it’s all coming along well, it’s agreed, and just needs to be signed. In principle it’s done. They just have to sign the final documents. The same as the other captains, Sergi has made a gesture to support the club. The captains have made this gesture at a very difficult moment for the club. For me, they are gestures that will never be forgotten. They were already, but they are Barca heroes even more so now.”

Thanks to the captains’s pay cuts the club was able to register Memphis, Eric, De Jong and Aguero this summer.
