La Liga report Espanyol for chants aimed at Barça and Pique
The LFP also say celebrations like Pique's could be punished in the future
Espanyol fans aimed insults at Barça and Pique during Sunday's draw
La Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) have reported chants from Espanyol fans aimed at Gerard Pique and Barcelona during Sunday's Catalan derby.
In their report to the RFEF, they say that "in the 66th minute, after the home team's goal, around 450 home fans chanted for about 15 seconds 'puta Barça eh,' followed by an indeterminable number of other fans around the ground singing the same chant."
And they add that in reaction to Pique's celebration "around 450 home fans chanted for about 12 seconds 'Pique cabrón, Shakira tiene rabo, tu hijo es de Wakaso y tú eres maricón.'"
The LFP also said that Pique didn't help the situation, suggesting he provoked the chant: "He approached the zone closest to the goal where the home fans were and made a gesture by putting his finger to his lips, a sign of silence."
La Liga also say that they will now take actions in similar cases moving forward: "Clear simulations or offensive goal celebrations, which are not reflected in the referee's report and can generate tension have always been rejected by the league and from now on will be forwarded to the RFEF for the appropriate action to be taken."
