La Liga not allowing Barcelona to register new signings for now

| sport

The Catalans claimed they had done enough for getting everyone signed up but it seems not to be the case

Joan Laporta said that Barcelona had done everything they needed to register their new signings and that the club had presented the documentation to La Liga. He seemed very confident, but he’s waiting for a response from the Spanish top flight.

Barcelona have been meeting with them for weeks to evaluate the situation and league sources say that for now they have not met the requirements to do so - renewing the five new arrivals and renewals of Dembele and Sergi Roberto. LaLiga have told Barcelona’s economic team that there is an issue.

Per these sources, the club would need to activate the fourth lever, the other 24.5 per cent sale of Barça Studios, and lower their current salary level. Selling Frenkie de Jong and Memphis would get them to it.

It’s likely then that Barcelona activate the fourth lever to start registering players for the clash with Rayo Vallecano on August 13.
