Koeman: There are players in a complicated situation at Barça

The Dutch coach still feels he has players who would be better served moving elsewhere

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman said once again on Saturday in his first news conference of 2021 that there are players in the squad that he feels should leave in search of regular football.

The Dutchman did not name names but explained: "There are players that are in a complicated situation at the club and, in addition, we want to strengthen the squad."

Koeman avoiding going into individual situations but the question was about Carles Aleña, Riqui Puig and Samuel Umtiti.

However, a lot will depend on who the new president is, with elections scheduled for Jan. 24.

"When we know who's going to be the next president, there won't be much time (left in the transfer window," Koeman added.

"We have to be prepared to speak quickly to resolve sporting issues. I can't change the date of the elections, we have to accept it."

Understanding

Even if he is not able to make signings -- even once a new president is elected -- Koeman would understand.

"In principle, I would not be disappointed to not be able to make signings due to the club's situation," he said.

"I speak a lot with (sporting director) Ramon Planes about young players, where we can improve the quality of the squad, although it will have to be the new president that signs of the decisions."
