Koeman praises in-form Griezmann: You don't score that without confidence

The Frenchman scored a brace in the weekend's win at Villarreal

Ronald Koeman spoke in a press conference on Wednesday ahead of Thursday's game against Granada, when Barcelona can go top of La Liga with a win.

An unlikely domestic double is closer than ever and, in part, that is down to the return to form of Antoine Griezmann, who has been criticised several times this season.

"For me, Antoine is a very important player," Koeman said. During the summer we spoke with him. Of course our forwards have been criticised for not being clinical enough, including Antoine, but he's a player a like, someone who always helps the team, works hard and looks out for the group."

Griezmann scored twice against Villarreal as Barça won 2-1 on Sunday. The first goal, Koeman said, was a demonstration of the French forward's confidence.

"He has also had some bad luck this season but it's true he has more confidence now," the Dutchman added. "He showed that with his first goal against Villarreal -- you don't score that if you're short of confidence -- and I hope he continues that way."
