Koeman: Pique's doing well but Araujo won't make the PSG game

One Barcelona defender could return for the Champions League game but another's been ruled out

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Gerard Pique is doing well and could feature against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

However, the Barcelona coach also revealed that centre-back Ronald Araujo will not recover from an ankle injury in time to be involved.

"Gerard is good," Koeman said in a press conference. "That's four or five days training with the team now. The sensations are good about his fitness but we still have one more day to decide if he's in the squad. He's been out for a while. We will talk and decide on Tuesday."

Pique wants to feature at all costs and it seems there's a chance he is involved against the Neymar-less PSG side this week.

Araujo will not play, though, despite the hope that he could possibly have a pain-killing injection to help him through the encounter.

Asked if Pique could start and about Araujo's fitness, Koeman added: "Araujo won't make it. If Pique, or anyone, is in the squad, it's because they can start the game."

Pique hasn't played since November, when he damaged his knee against Atletico Madrid.
