Koeman on tight La Liga title race: No one team stronger than the rest

The Barça coach things the four-way battle will go down to the wire

Ronald Koeman feels all four teams are in a strong position going into the final weeks of the title race in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid (32 games, 73 points) currently lead the way but Barcelona (31 games, 68 points) know that if they win all of their seven remaining fixtures they will win the league due to the fact they host Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou in May.

Real Madrid (32 games, 70 points) and Sevilla (32 games, 67 points) are also hoping to be in the running come the end of the season.

"I don't see one team as being stronger than another," Koeman said Saturday. "Atletico, Madrid and Sevilla are winning a lot of games (...) the advantage we have is we play the game against Atletico at home.

"But I don't see any team as stronger than any other. It's going to be a fight until the last game and we will see what happens.

"For any of the four teams, you basically can't slip up. The rest are winning their games. You're going to have to get a lot of points from these seven games to be champions. I don't know if we will need to win every game, but we need to get a lot of points."

Barça are in action on Sunday at Villarreal, knowing a win will move them within six wins of the title.

"Villarreal are a team that plays good football," Koeman added. "They have quality players in attack and in Europe they are proving they're a strong team.

"Until (their Europa League semifinal on) Thursday they have enough time to prepare for that game and they are also fighting for a Europa qualifying spot in the league, so it's an important game for both teams, an interesting one."
