Koeman: Leaked report? Barça players must be prepared for everything

The Dutch coach responded to questions about the report advocating the signing of Eric Garcia

Ronald Koeman spoke to the press on Saturday ahead of Sunday's La Liga game against Athletic Club at Camp Nou.

The Dutchman responded to several questions about the leaked international report that recommended the signing of Eric Garcia and suggested Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza cannot be relied on in big games.

Koeman feels that producing these type of documents is what the club should be doing and doesn't believe it will annoy the players.

He said: "It is always important to have someone at club working on improving squad. If not for January, then for next season. It's normal.

"It doesn't annoy me because it's a job the club has to do. The players can't be annoyed because we speak with them every day and they have participated in games. These things happen at every club and I don't see any problem."

Asked if he was worried that the report was leaked, he added: "My job is to prepare the team for the games we have coming up.

"[Sporting director] Ramon Planes' job is to try and improve the squad. He can explain if something has come out . I don't read much media, so I don't know what's happened. My job is to think about the games, everything else is of no interest to me."

The fact that Umtiti and Mingueza were named in the report seemed in poor taste but Koeman played it down.

"Barca players always have to be prepared," the coach said. "Umtiti has been out long time with injury, he has come back well and we are counting on him.

"Mingueza has played a lot of games at centre-back and right-back. We will see what happens in the future. Everyone has to prove themselves."
