The Barça coach has turned things around following a tough start to the season

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman says he feels completely backed by new president Joan Laporta and the board of directors.

Asked about his meetings with them during the international break on Sunday, he said they are very happy with the team's upturn in results.

Barça are unbeaten in 18 league games, cutting the gap on leaders Atletico Madrid to four points in the process, and into the final of the Copa del Rey, against Athletic Club later in April.

"Yes, [the new board] have transmitted a lot of confidence and are very happy, but that's normal after the changes we've made," Koeman said.

"No one could have expected in November to be fighting fore the title and in the Copa del Rey final. So it's normal but we also know in our world we have to keep working hard, game by game, and once again, as the president said in his inauguration, the confidence is there. Now I have to demonstrate as coach the confidence they have in me."

Koeman confirmed he held talks with Laporta recently about possible signings this summer but did not want to talk about any targets specifically with the focus on finishing the current campaign well.
