Kobe Bryant: I like Barcelona more than Real Madrid

The basketball legend is a Barça fan and is also a huge admirer of Lionel Messi

Kobe Bryant, one of the best basketball players of all time, now retired from the court after problems with injuries, has once again declared his love for Barcelona, a team he’s been a fan of since the Ronaldinho era.

In an interview with Zona NBA, the former Los Angeles Lakers player, speaking in good Spanish, referred to Barça in first person: “We play with a tiki-taka style.” And when it came to Lionel Messi, a player he admires, he said: “Ufff, Messi, he has a really destructive style.”

He didn’t want to go deep on comparisons between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who he was also asked about. “Messi, Cristiano? It’s difficult to debate who’s the best because they have different styles, but Messi, ufff, he never stops.”

A question he was happy to take sides on was whether he preferred Barça or Madrid. Without thinking, he had no problems affirming that “I like Barça more because their style, for me, is more fun.”

Kobe Bryant met the Barça team a few years ago when they were on tour in the United States. He even played a game of football wearing the Barça shirt. In addition, he once suggested he could play for the club’s basketball team, something which never happened.
