The Dutchman will be released when his contract ends this summer

Patrick Kluivert's time as the head of Barcelona's academy has come to an end. The Dutchman has been informed by the club that they will not extend his deal beyond the end of June.

Kluivert took on the job in 2019 with the objective of preserving the future stars of La Masia. The director Xavi Vilajoana bet on him following his experience with Paris Sait Saint-Germain and Kluivert dealt with some really important contract renewals.

Among the positive work done by the Dutchman, he tied talented youngsters Pablo Paez 'Gavi,' Ilias Akhomach and Ángel Alarcón down to new deals.

However, the departure of Josep Maria Bartomeu and the appointment of Joan Laporta as Barça's new president has led to a change of plans.

Albert Soler (director of professional sports) and Ramon Gomez Ponti (head of legal services) have already been let go and Kluivert will follow them out in the summer.

It's not yet official, but Kluivert will be replaced by José Ramón Alexanko.
